Printmaking with Claybord

Stop by the gallery between 1 and 4pm for this free mini-workshop. All materials are provided

We’ll be working with GOLDEN OPEN Acrylic colors because they stay wet longer- similar to printmaking inks making them a wonderful alternative. We’re also using transparent colors that add color without losing any of the printmaking details. The Ampersand Claybord Panel is a fabulous surface that takes paint and inks exceptionally well AND you can carve it to create a plate for printmaking.

Free Zoom Demo featuring GOLDEN OPEN Acrylics and Gel Press

Free Zoom Demo featuring GOLDEN OPEN Acrylics and Gel Press

My recent work is influenced by the colors, patterns and shapes from the 50’s through the 70’s. The paintings are paint and paper assemblages made from layers of paint and handmade papers. This free event will show how I make my own collage papers using GOLDEN OPEN, High Flow and Fluid Acrylics with a Gel Press Plate.

The Gel Press is an addictive, fun modern printmaking process that allows you to make the papers in your colors rather than searching for a commercial paper. There are many benefits to making your own papers and I’ll go over a bunch of them.

Live from my Ohio studio 12-2PM Eastern time on Zoom

If you’d like to work on your own papers with me you’ll need a Gel Press Plate, brayer and some OPEN, Fluid or High Flow colors and thin papers to print on. Tissue, rice paper or plain copy paper all work just fine.

GIVEAWAYS: All registrants will be entered to win a super generous prize from the folks at Gel Press and a wee handmade paper collage pack from yours truly.
