IMid-Century Inspired Palette
with Artist in Residence Susan Rossiter
10:00am-3:30pm
Explore colors from the 50’s through the 70’s and create mixed media abstract paintings using acrylic, handmade papers and collage elements.
This piece was inspired by mid-century textile artist Vera Neumann- I remember a tablecloth with various shades of yellow and napkins that were yellow with orange flowers with a little bit of green/blue. Other pieces were inspired by things like an old robin’s egg blue rotary telephone and wallpaper in my grandmother’s bathroom that had illustrations of poodles soaking in tubs, putting on lipstick and getting their nails done in ochre, pale pink and gray
I encourage you to look around your home for a vintage item with color/s that inspire you and bring it (or a photo) to class.
Workshop fee includes a handmade paper and collage element pack, use of GOLDEN colors in all viscosities, use of Silver Brush Bristlon brushes,
· We’ll talk about color and creating a successful palette
