Japanese Gyotaku Fish Printing

  • Divi Flamingo Beach Resort J.A. Abrham Blvd #40 Kralendijk Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles (map)

This ancient technique has been around for thousands of years. Japanese fishermen took ink and rice paper on their boats and made prints from the fish they caught. This was how they recorded fish species and bragged about their catches. In this class we’ll be by the beach in Bonaire! First we’ll make a few fish prints Gyotaku style and then we’ll enhance them with GOLDEN Paints. This is an easy step by step class for any skill level. The class includes Japanese papers, inks, use of fish molds (seahorses, several species of fish & starfish) GOLDEN High Flow Iridescent Acrylics, QoR Watercolors, brushes and dotting tools. Date/Time tentative depending on the dive schedule.
